Patsy,
What can I say?
Your news of Peter’s death just stunned me! I went through the whole website and it is a great tribute to Peter.
I have to say that while I only met him (and Bruce for that matter) on a few occasions I sensed in him not only a deep love
for the outdoors but a great respect for it too.
I tried to send a message to Bruce via the website but it would not allow me. [fixed..Webmaster]
Please pass on my sincere condolences to the family at large. Your Mum must have been devastated. (how is she?) I can
clearly remember the brief encounters we had and I think one of the things that really came through for me was the sense of
Peter trying to have what I would imagine we call “a full life”, not only for himself but for those whom he could influence about
the things that he loved and which gave him such pleasure.
I think at times like these we all enter a period of self reflection? For me the death of a loved one reinforces my sense of
appreciation and gratitude for my own life but also for those that I love and hold in my heart. For myself it was too often “ I
should have phoned…”. After my brothers death I found a quote that I try to remember. It goes
“If you only had one phone call left to make, who would it be to….. and why are you waiting?”
Pats, going through the tributes brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. Yes it is a great loss for you all and I
wish you all strength in dealing with it.
I can understand Bruce moving to Kleinemonde – a wonderful part of the world. Dustin has been helping me with the
rebuilding and extending of my deck. I broke my good elbow a few months back and did not realise it so it is now too late to
set and consequently it is pretty weak and gives me quite a bit of pain. The joys of having pushed the body so hard while
younger!
Dustin is doing exceptionally well with his apprenticeship and I really hope that he sees it through. He would appear to
have a natural aptitude for it.
Pats I am just so sorry about Peter. Adele asks to send her love with mine to you all.
